I never thought I would see a picture of myself especially on the “interweb” with a silly hat on!
I am Sue, I am Cornish (& proud of it), He is Colin, he is Lochaber (as a lady said when she passed us on the last trip “what a shame!”). We have been bitten by the canal bug & are passionate that this is where we want to be all of the time, exploring the canal network everyday, meeting new faces & seeing new places. As you can see we have already got all the kit for this canal lark, unfortunately the hat plays havoc with the hair but once I’m liveaboard don’t suppose I’ll be caring. We both have a passion for good Real Ale so we will be hunting out some of the best canalside hostelries on our way.
Lochaber is a bit of a gadget freak so this photo was taken by the camera on remote balanced on the roof..nobody else was aboard! We love seeing the wildlife along the way, however managing to get good pictures of it is another thing!
Here are a few we like.
I am longing to get away from the hectic world of Sales, bin the suit, get out of the car that I do 48k miles a year in & enjoy life aboard That’s D’riculous, travelling the canals, developing this blog & hopefully writing the book I have had in my head for over 5yrs now.
Lochaber is desperate to get away from his desk designing timber frame houses & get out on the canals taking photos along the way, he’s quite good at the photo thing. He also wants to learn how to play the new saxophone he has just purchased, I think we will be mooring in quite remote spots for some time, no doubt he will also be finding more gadgets for our nb.
We may at times be accompanied by Lochabers’ teenage daughter Millana who has also fallen in love with the canals & is great at locking not so good at steering the nb yet, given time I’m sure I’ll get a break!
If you see a frantic spaniel swimming behind that is because she has jumped in AGAIN!
So if we pass you we will share a smile & a wave but not the beer!
Would like to reply regarding your article on the Fish Shop on the Bridge in Silsden. Thank you for saying that you enjoyed our chips. Can I just point out that we have owned our shop for over 20 years and have a 5 star hygiene rating. My husband never has his sleeves rolled up and the walls are far from bare. The only reason this could be is that we were in the process of re decorating the shop hence the reason it looked as if it needed a little tlc.
Thankyou for pointing that out, we certainly will call again if we are on the L&L. I hope business is good I know how hard it is running a chippy.
I could not refrain from commenting. Exceptionally well written!
Hi, I write the Webwatch column for Towpath Talk and would like to mention your blog and books for sale in my next column (deadline imminent). Wondered if you’d be able to send some high-res jpegs of you both? Would be grateful if you could email me this weekend. Thanks.
Hi we also live in Scotland and have a boat down near you. We are moored at Orchard marina between Anderton and Middlewich. We often pass Aquaduct on our travels. We are on NB Ruth and will keep an eye out for you on our travels. Happy cruising.
Nice to see you’re following us, Sue and Colin. Looking at the lovely D’riculous, you’d do well to appoint one of our Oxford Blue Chimney and cowl sets atop that cabin of yours!! Smarten you up a real treat so it would. Why not delay (or bring forward) your new adventure date – doesn’t seem right to start on All Fools Day?

Thanks for your comments David, we will be getting one of your chimneys but only when I’m a bit better practiced under tight bridges! 1st April……..That’s a D’riculous date I agree!
OK…. I worked it out! Colin is from Scotland….. I hope!
